The reggae Kings!

Record kicks is pleased to welcome on board early reggae new boss in town The Crabs Corporation. For their first single these four young lads from Buenos Aires have recruited none less than Jennie Matthias and Dave Barker. Jen was the lead singer of the “Belle stars”, with whom she scored a number of hits in the 80s, including smash singles “sign of the time”. David Barker needs no presentation, he's a true living legend of Jamaican music. During the 60s he recorded for Duke Reid, Coxsone Dodd and Lee Perry. He recorded with The Technics, Upsetters and The Wailers and scored hits like "Prisoner of Love", "Shocks of a Mighty" and "Spinning Wheel". At the beginning of the 70s he moved to London and in 1971 he released number 1 hit "Double Barrel" as part of a duo with Ansell Collins.

Crabs follow up is a crackin "Studio 1" version of Herbie Hancock's " Bring down the birds" produced by the legendary Nick Welsh aka King Hammond, a true hero of the UK reggae scene that has written for, played with and produced artists such as Bad Manners, The Selecter, Prince Buster, Dave Barker, Laurel Aitken, Judge Dread, Rhoda Dakar & Rico Rodriguez, amongst others. Watch out the Crabs Corporation are fire indeed!

"The unmistakable toasting tones of Dave Barker mix with former Belle Star Jen Mattias's delicious vocal melodies over an exceptional skinhead reggae stomp with nods to The Upsetters' Shocks Of Mighty". Lois Wilson (Mojo Magazine)
