2012 round upPublished on Mercoledì, 19 Dicembre 2012
- Many thanks to all (and there were a lot!) of you who voted for your favorite 2012 release on Record Kicks!
It's been a great year for us full of amazing releases, show us your support and let us know if you have a favorite by entering our poll (see right side of this page). 3 of you have been picked to receive an RK album of choice!
We started in February with Nick Pride & the Pimptones' 'Remixed Feast of Jazz', on which producers such as Smoove, Diesler, Soopasoul, TM Juke, Renegades of Jazz and many more added their personal touch to the tunes featured on the group’s debut full-length, Midnight Feast of Jazz.
Then came March and the release of Third Coast Kings' self-titled debut, a hard-grooving, explosive set of funky numbers and contagious beats, perfectly showcasing the band's powerful horns, irresistible rhythm section as well as the vocal talents of Sean Ike and Michelle "The Belle" Camilleri.
In the following month, Dojo Cuts released their second LP 'Take From Me', once again features the sizzling, smoky vocals of Miss Roxie Ray, and saw the band taking it back to the roots of soul, but at the same time giving a nod to contemporary funk.
October saw the release of 'A Hill of Feathers', the debut album of Record Kicks' latest discovery and new UK funk & soul sensation Hannah Williams & the Tastemakers, with the artistic supervision of golden boy Diesler.
