BABY CHARLES at Novara Jazz FestPublished on Mercoledì, 19 Maggio 2010
The 7th edition of the Novara Jazz Festival in Italy is taking place from May 27th to June 5th, and among the confirmed guests will be deep funk band from Brighton BABY CHARLES. Fronted by soul diva Dionne Charles, the group will be setting the main stage on fire on May 5th at 10pm, following the performance of the Willem Breuker Kollektief at 9pm. This last day of the Festival will then close with Peter Wermelinger from Switzerland, author of The Funky And Groovy Music Records Lexicon, spinning the rarest funk and soul for the dancefloor.
Another highlight of this year's edition of the Novara Jazz Festival will be the 29th of May, which not only includes ethno-jazz legend Mulatu Astatke performing on the main stage at 10pm, but then closes with the DJs of Soulful Torino accompanied by super special guest Ian Wright, selecting the hottest 45s for the dancing pleasure of the crowd. With such a lineup of artists, this year's Festival is definitely one of the big events to inaugurate the season!
The Novara Jazz Festival is also the first in a series of dates that see Baby Charles touring various Italian cities this summer, including the Marcogliano Music Festival on July 17th, and the Musicastrada Festival on the 18th. Baby Charles was defined by Mojo Magazine as one of the top bands of the new deep funk revival, irrupting onto the scene with their explosive self-titled album in 2007.
