DIPLOMATS OF SOLID SOUND at SXSW- Austin/TexasPublished on Venerdì, 12 Marzo 2010
On March 20th THE DIPLOMATS OF SOLID SOUND will be performing again at the Internationally recognized South by Southwest Music and Media Conference & Festival (SXSW) in Austin Texas. The main show will be taking place at Maggie Mae’s Rooftop stage at 22 pm but the band will also be doing some smaller day time showcases in the days preceding the 20th (check the events page here for details.) SXSW is probably the biggest and most important music festival in the United States, and gathers as many as 12,000 registrants.
In the past the Diplomats have shared stages with Sharon Jones, Robert Walter, Wilco, The New Mastersounds and The James Taylor Quartet and toured in Italy, France, and Spain. Since the release of their first 7-inch single in 2001 DOSS have evolved from an instrumental outfit greatly influenced by the best of America’s soul music into a well-rounded band with a sound of their own. Having expanded the family to include the vocal talents of The Diplomettes, the group polished their act through a series of tours to then lay down their first album as this new combo, produced and mixed in the UK by Adam Gibbons (aka Lack Of Afro / Freestyle rec), and released on Record Kicks in 2008.
We highly recommend anyone in the vicinities of Austin to attend the festival and check out the performance of The Diplomats of Solid Sound feat. The Diplomettes, but for those of you that cannot, it might be consoling to know that in the meantime DOSS have been spending much time in the studio working on their next album. Watch out for a 45 to be released in September 2010, in anticipation of their new album to be dropped in October, once again with Lack Of Afro behind production and mixing. Now you don’t need diplomatic immunity to get down with that!
