DOJO CUTS re-released Stateside!Published on Martedì, 06 Aprile 2010
Australian heavy-hitting funk band THE DOJO CUTS have been making a name for themselves ever since their debut self-titled album was released on Record Kicks in 2009. From unsigned hopefuls to recording artists, the leap has been as swift as it is been radical, making them one of the hot new units of the contemporary funk scene. From down under all the way to the old U.S of A, it seems everybody has noticed this group's talent and energy, including our friends at Colemine Records, who will be re-issuing two tracks from the band's full-length. " You Make Lovin' Real Easy" and "Love Me Right" will be released on 45 and strictly limited to 500 pressed copies, so watch out for it! The folks at Colemine will also distribute the forthcoming highly anticipated 45 by Third Coast Kings in US ...but that's another story.
Getting back to the album that launched The Dojo Cuts, it also provided the jump-off for vocalist Roxie Ray, who has since then been participating in numerous other projects, lending her voice to side B of Ray Lugo's L.E.S. Express (due out with another 45 featuring Roxie in early May), to The Underbelly's debut "Seven Feet Under ", and to a couple of tracks on Lack Of Afro's latest album. Currently Miss Ray is busy traveling Europe and can be seen and heard at a variety of venues, including a summer tour which will see her perform alongside The Underbelly and Lack Of Afro.
In the meantime, Dojo fans need not fret, as the band has been working in the studio to record tracks for their second album, which we can all get a taste of in October 2010 when they drop two new singles on 45. Some of the members of the group have also been busy on a new Afro-funk formation called The Liberators, who after perfecting their sound through numerous gigs in Australia will be debuting on Record Kicks with their first album sometime next Winter 2010. Yes people, Dojo Cuts may be keeping on the down low for now, but only to come back bigger and better than ever before!
