RAY LUGO's L.E.S. EXPRESS out now!

Published on Domenica, 04 Ottobre 2009

Ray Lugo, leader of Kokolo Afrobeat Orchestra, launches his new project, L.E.S. Express, with this killer 45, featuring two of the most promising female vocalists on today's soul-funk scene and sure to keep many a discerning DJ happy. On the A-side we have Brazilian newcomer Elani, waxing nostalgic about the mythic Bahia while working her sultry vocals through one of the grooviest tracks heard in a while. The flipside features none other than the mighty Roxie Ray, vocalist of current Aussie sensations Dojo Cuts. "Get On Up" confirms why she is making waves outside of her homeland, as she effortlessly commands this marvellous deep-funk nugget.

" Get on up feat Roxie Ray. A funk bomb reminiscent of Spanky Wilson, or even the new Queen of Soul, Alice Russell...FIRE!!!!!" Dom Servini (Wah Wah 45s/Shook magazine)

"Two solid tracks cut for the dancefloor with a unique athmospere combining flavours of Brasil, Afro and funk". Jazzman Gerald

" Any track is better with a Roxie Ray vocal on it. Really nice groove and then that sweet, sweet voice - love it! I Dream Of Bahia: Nice little spacey Afro stomper!" Lack of Afro (Freestyle rec)

"Both tunes are bloody amazing!!" Diesler (Tru Thoughts / Freestyle)

"Lithe, loose, and totally addictive"Craig Charles Funk And Soul Show (BBC 6 Music)
