Tanika Charles plays Trans Musicales 2017

Published on Giovedì, 07 Dicembre 2017

Toronto’s Tanika Charles is among the first names announced for the 39th edition of the Trans Musicales, one of the most significant musical festival in Europe, that will take place next 06-10 December in Rennes. After her first European appearance at the iconic 100 Club in London for the sold out Record Kicks' Fest, this event will be the debut show in France for the new Canadian soul sensation.

Growing up on a musical diet of Patti Labelle, Jill Scott, Bob James, Stevie Wonder, D'Angelo, Bjork and The Black Crows, Tanika Charles released her heavily acclaimed debut LP Soul Run last April 2017 on Record Kicks. Mainly produced by Drake’s producer and BBE artist Slakah The Beatchild, “Soul Run” earned her a Juno Award nomination in the “Best R&B/Soul Album” category and led Tanika to perform live at CBC Network, FIP Radio France and BBC6.

Tanika Charles put a modern, edgy twist on the classic Motown sound, resulting in an album that captured the ears with brilliant reviews of, among others, Uncut, Mojo Magazine, Blues & Soul and Afropunk US. Following her appearance at Tran Musicales an European tour is also expected for early 2018.
